What's new in v1.1.9

The update popup works again. In 1.1.7–1.1.8.1 the in-app update prompt was hidden or crashed on open. Opening Touchless now shows the new version, What's new, and Download Update. A tray balloon is the backup if the popup is behind another window.

Custom motion gestures and pose sequences fire live. Record circles, swipes, and snaps, or an ordered chain of held poses (for example 3 → 2 → 1). They work in GPU, Lite, and Low FPS modes — not only in the sandbox. Fast circles and long paths recall more reliably, and a short hand entering the frame is less likely to false-fire a wave. After you record a motion gesture, you can open a diagram of the takes.

GPU-mode tracking recovers the hand more cleanly after it leaves and re-enters the frame.

Highlights from v1.1.8.1

Camera + Spotify + installer polish. Better hand tracking in dim rooms without changing what you see, a fully redesigned Spotify setup and reconnect flow, and an installer that no longer gets flagged by antivirus.

Cameras now track your hands better in dim rooms. Touchless enhances the frame it feeds MediaPipe behind the scenes so tracking stays reliable when your webcam sees a dark scene. Your live preview stays untouched — you see the same picture your camera captures.

“Boost Performance” preview no longer looks dark. When Boost mode shortens the camera shutter for higher FPS, the preview automatically compensates so the picture looks natural. Toggling Boost on or off should look almost identical on screen — you just gain FPS.

One Spotify entry point: Set up / Reconnect. The old separate “Connect Spotify” button is gone. Settings → General → Spotify → Set up / reconnect Spotify opens a single wizard with two paths: full first-time setup (Spotify Developer app + Client ID walkthrough), or a fast Reconnect for users who’re already set up and just need to re-authorize after Spotify expired the token. The wizard is now resizable via the corner grip.

Friendly Spotify pill when things go wrong. If a gesture can’t reach Spotify, a small top-right message quietly appears — “Set up or reconnect Spotify to control your music with Touchless — click here” — that opens the wizard on click. Dismiss with the X, or check “Don’t show me again this session” to silence it for the run.

Installer is signed end-to-end. Every internal binary (whisper.cpp, llama.cpp, ffmpeg) is now code-signed via Azure Trusted Signing so Norton and Windows Defender heuristics stop flagging install as suspicious.

Installer no longer looks stuck at 6047/6047. The post-extract phase now shows honest sub-messages (“Finalizing installation…”, “Waiting for antivirus…”, “Almost done…”) so you know antivirus is scanning the new files, not that the installer froze.

Highlights from v1.1.7

Recording quality — pick your tier. Settings → General → Clip Presets has a Low / Normal / High tier picker. High goes near-lossless at 60 fps for editable footage; Low compresses hard for smaller files. Clip duration now includes 30 seconds; filenames pick up the actual duration (Touchless_Clip_30s_1.mp4).

Left-hand TWO is the instant-clip gesture. Hold the “two” pose (index + middle up) for half a second to save an instant clip — same as saying “clip that” out loud.

Smoother tracking on generic USB webcams. On GPU Mode with a Realtek / Sonix / Chicony / generic UVC webcam, Touchless hints the driver into short-exposure mode before ffmpeg claims the camera. Result: sharper frames, less motion blur.

Drawing feels right. Drift dead-zone keeps the pen still when your hand is still. Drawing-mode swipes fire from the same “one” pose you already draw with.

Refreshed dialog chrome across 18 popups. Spotify setup, Discord setup, phone connect, tutorial, custom-gesture recorder — all now use the Touchless indigo title bar on both Win 10 and Win 11.

• Smarter grammar correction — triggers when you stop typing, aborts on resume, does a final pass at the end.

• Spotify reauth toast — gentle prompt when your token expires instead of silent failure.
• Tutorial Spotify step now auto-completes when music actually plays.
• Consistent spacing on settings panel scroll bars; single green scroll bar on Control Guide.
• Connect Phone is reachable when no webcam or mic is detected (dropdowns stay enabled).

Known issues

• Dynamic gesture accuracy is mediocre — over-firing and missed-fires both happen. Re-record after each update; saved templates aren't forward-compatible across tuning changes yet.

System requirements

• Operating system: Windows 10 or Windows 11 (64-bit).
• Webcam: any USB or built-in camera at 720p/30fps or higher. Faster cameras reduce motion blur on gestures.
• Microphone: required for voice commands and dictation. A headset or external mic works best; laptop/webcam mics are fine.
• GPU (recommended): NVIDIA (CUDA 12.x) or any Vulkan-capable AMD/Intel GPU for fast voice transcription and grammar correction. CPU-only mode works but is slower.
• RAM: 8 GB minimum, 16 GB recommended (voice and grammar models load together).
• Disk space: about 6 GB free after install (includes whisper models and optional Qwen 3B grammar model).
• First run: Windows may prompt to allow camera and microphone access — accept both.

How to install

• Click Download for Windows to download the installer.
• Open Touchless_Installer.exe after the download finishes.
• Follow the setup prompts to install Touchless.
• Launch Touchless from the desktop shortcut or Start menu after installation.
